Compassion, that glue that binds humanity together, is often desired but too seldom offered in much of our discourse. Throughout the ages, literature has offered its compassionate solace, its reminder that all humans are bound together by their heartstrings, but how does that manifest itself today?
The students and faculty of Hickory Career and Arts Magnet High School have set out to provide their answers to this question here in this volume. Inside, you will find ten poems by literary voices both well-known and not that have inspired us to consider how compassion has touched our own lives and our community, along with the results of these considerations. What you will find is an adventure of visual art, poems, essays, and even one recipe(!), all straight from our compassionate hearts to yours. We hope you’ll enjoy!
