The Footcandle Film Festival is designed to bring unique, challenging and entertaining films to Western North Carolina every September. The festival is being held by the founders and members of the Footcandle Film Society, a 600-member group dedicated to screening and discussing films on a monthly basis. The society was formed in late 2007 by Alan Jackson & Chris Frye. The inaugural film festival was held in September of 2015.

We need volunteers for the 2023 Footcandle Film Festival!
The Footcandle Film Festival is returning to Hickory, North Carolina on September 16th-24th, 2023, and we are looking for volunteers willing to come help out during the festival weekend!
We need volunteers to help with:
• Serving as ushers during the movies
• Helping sell and distribute tickets at the box office
• Assisting with concession sales
• and other ways to help!
Whether you have served as a volunteer in the past or wish to start this year, we would love to have you as a volunteer at this year’s festival. We’ll give all volunteers a free festival t-shirt as well as an online ticket to see any film you might miss during your volunteer shift.
To volunteer, please contact Kent Kerley at (828) 324-4982 or by email at thomkent@charter.net.
Kent will also be in attendance at the September 13th and 14th monthly Footcandle film screening at the Carolina Theatre; you can come to the screening and let him know you’d like to volunteer as well.
Thank you in advance! Your help will make this year’s festival a roaring success!
